The Shield Quartz is a compelling juxtaposition: classical cushion case dress watch elegance matched with striking case decoration and vibrant colour.

The case decoration is a celebration of the Anglo-Saxon origins of Oldbury, England; the market town where Oldbury Watch Co. was founded. The chain link embellishment in the case sides represents unity and cohesion; the enamel shield medallion on the case back, resilience and honour; and the sword-like hands courage and precision; qualities that are as important today as they were a thousand years ago.

These design choices combined with the classic cushion case silhouette and box sapphire crystal offer a level of elegance and beauty rarely achieved in a modern dress watch.

The steel and white colourway is one of three variants which form a tribute to the Black Country (a nickname for the wider area that encompasses Oldbury and its industrial neighbours). The white recognises the area’s famous glassworks such as Chance Brothers and Company of Spon Lane, Smethwick, a world-renowned glassmaking pioneer which was the only glass company large enough to supply the glass for the world famous Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London.

Please note the watch photographed in these images is a pre-production sample/prototype. The final production watches will have multiple improvements. The case back notch will be moved to the bottom of the case, the crystal will have added layers of anti-reflective coating and the straps will be slightly slimmer.

I am a lover and collector of classic dress watches, and the Shield Quartz is my attempt to make the most impressive quartz dress watch I possibly can. For me that meant starting with a beautiful cushion case shape and using it as a platform to incorporate everything I love about dress watches. I wanted every aspect of the watch to be as majestic as possible: a beautiful decoration on the side profile; a striking enamel shield medallion on the case back; a spectacular box sapphire crystal; vibrant eye-catching dials; and a premium movement and perlage finish on the inside of the case back. We accept returns for change of mind within 14 days of receipt of the watch at the customer's cost. Watches must be returned in unused, resalable condition or the return may be refused and the watch sent back to you.

Faulty items may be returned for a replacement (subject to stock) or a full refund within 14 days.
